ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS EXPLAINED

An alternative investment is an investment that falls outside of what are considered to be traditional investments asset types such as stocks, bonds or cash. Alternative investments can be held by either institutional investors or private individuals. Alternative investments can include:

  • Hedge funds
  • Managed futures
  • Real estate
  • Commodities
  • Derivatives contracts

In the bad old days alternative investments used to be the preserve of large institutional investors or high net worth individuals. Quite often alternative investments used to have high minimum investments and arcane fee structures. Now with the advent of the internet and globalisation alternative investments markets are open to a much wider audience.

A NOTE OF CAUTION

A note of caution: Whilst many alternative investment products are above board and realise excellent returns they are not regulated by the FCA here in the UK so if you are unsure about the investment terms or are risk averse you should speak to the product’s broker and take independent financial advice before committing any money.

Here at Broadwood Assets Ltd we specialise in alternative investments in the real estate category. We have several different products for all size of investor and risk appetite. For more information about our UK and international alternative property investments please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
